The Governor of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has charged Nigerian leaders on the need to imbibe the spirit of virtuous leadership so as to avert the myriads of socioeconomic, political and religious crises facing the nation.

Aregbesola said the country has gotten to a point where undaunted commitment and avowed determination are highly required to rescue the citizenry out of the present predicament.

Governor Aregbesola stated this while addressing Muslim faithful, during the Eid-el-Fitri prayers, at Osogbo Central Eid Praying-ground, Oke-Baale, Osogbo.

The Governor who spoke to journalists shortly after the mandatory prayers, described the current socioeconomic, political, religious and ethnical unrest ravaging the country as unprecedented in history, nothing that the rulers and ruled must go back to drawing board and formulate better policies that would cushion the anomalies without further delay.

Aregbesola identified peace, love, patience, tolerance and understanding as the needed ingredients to sustainable national economic development, saying no stone should be left unturned at ensuring the continuity of the nation's existence.

He frowned at the state of the nation's  economy, saying those at the helms of affairs must as a matter of necessity urgently intensify policies that would facilitate quick recovery of the losses recorded in the past to bad leadership.

Aregbesola also attributed the dint of unwavering patriotism, nationalism, love, obedience and forthright dedication to nation building as parts of the qualities required from all and sundry in a bid to move the country forward among her counterparts.

He charged government at all levels to jettison ineptitude and incompetence by embracing the virtues of truthfulness, transparency, loyalty, accountability and prudency as being required in leadership, saying proper adoption of these sterling attributes would in no doubt add greater values to national economic growth and development.

Aregbesola said the country was in a serious need of selfless sacrifices from all and sundry especially at the time the governments are striving hard to drift the path towards economic prosperity.

According to him, "the only thing we need in Nigeria to day is to appreciate more further our socio-political differences and colorations.

"Leaders must strive more harder to champion the cause of togetherness, peace, harmony and unity as being enshrined by the constitutional documents that brought us together as a country.

"The rulers and ruled must henceforth design policies and template required for sustainable economic development and transformation.

"Nigerian leaders must spare no effort in cultivating the virtuous leadership qualities required especially at a time the country is facing with different challenges on her economy and security.

"Leaders must work relentlessly at averting the plethora of socioeconomic, political and religious crises facing the nation through unwavering commitment and determination.

"With our current experience in all aspects of the economy, meanwhile there is the need for both rulers and ruled to urgently go back to drawing board in formulating workable policies that would mitigate the menace.

"For these reasons, the spirit of patriotism and nationalism must be revived among Nigerians while obedience to constituted authorities must be championed by all so as for us to move forward.

"Likewise, government at all levels must also jettison ineptitude and incompetence in governance, but rather embrace the virtues of truthfulness, transparency, loyalty, accountability and prudency in a bid to add greater values to our national economic growth and development.

"Because there is no doubt that in the fact that our country needs selfless sacrifices to survive especially at this period of economic downturn.

"We must all work towards the achievement of greatness and prosperity.

While felicitating with Muslim faithful across the globe on the occasion of this year Eid-el-fitri, Governor Aregbesola enjoined them to emulate the teachings and lessons of the Holy Month as being prescribed by Allah and His Holy Prophet Muhammad.

He implored Muslims not to derail from any of the commandments of God which emphasized patience, perseverance, understanding, benevolence towards the plights of others, neighbourliness, love among others.

Governor Aregbesola who canvassed cooperation among Nigerians said both Muslims and Christians as well other religious adherents must spare no effort in supporting government for greater development.

He said the major way for Nigerians to contribute significant towards the realization of nation's building and socioeconomic transformation was to allow peace from their various communities, saying no development could be achieved in volatile atmosphere.

Aregbesola noted that the current economic imbroglio required an extreme patience and hope from all, saying with this, the country would definitely bounce back to greatness.

He therefore admonished Nigerians to jettison their differences by promoting unity in the diversity of the country and as well relate to one another with extreme love.

"The lessons and teachings of Ramadan must be a reflection towards the possession of continual virtuous character in our daily life.

"Muslims must inculcate the principles of selfless sacrifice to development and transformation, just as self-denial and self-discipline should be the watchword of all and sundry.

"We must embrace peace, unity and togetherness as a corporate entity called Nigeria, because it is through this that our collective efforts would transform to prosperity that we all aspired", he added.

Earlier, the Chief Imam of Osogboland, Sheik Musa Animasahun called on Muslims to be strictly adhered to the commandments of God and as well apply the Quranic injunctions and teachings of Prophet Muhammad in all they do.

Sheik Animasahun who described universe as ephemeral entity, said Muslim Ummah must keep to minds the day of judgment and accountability before their creator.

He implored Muslims to be more dedicated to the will of Allah, and as well remain prayerful as the nation is facing serious challenges.

The Islamic cleric who buttressed his points with several Quranic verses and the practices of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, said Muslims must always exemplify what their religion stands for in all circumstances.

Sheik Animasahun called on the islamic adherents to always put God first in all situations, saying Muslims must not relent in seeking Allah's face in the face of challenges and tribulations.

According to him, "We Muslims must always apply the lessons and teaches of the Holy Quran as well as the practice of our noble Prophet in all we do.

"Though Ramadan has come and gone, but all we learnt during the period must be entrenched and allowed to be part and parcel of our existence as long as we live on earth.

"We must continuously seek the face of God and see this world as a transient and ephemeral entity that would come to an end at any time.

"Our strong beliefs towards these facts would in no doubt bring more succour not only while on earth but here after as we Muslims are expected to exemplify what the tenets, dictates and commandments of our religion in all circumstances.

"Based on this, we Muslims must not relent in seeking Allah's face especially in the face of challenges and tribulations.
