Osun Pro-People Policies Worthy of Emulation for Federal, States, Local Govts in Nigeria- Comrade Adebisi

A renowned Human Rights Activist, Comrade Wale Adebisi has called on government at various levels especially the Federal Government in the country to adopt the pro-masses policies that would transform the citizens' lives positively.

Comrade Adebisi described government as an institution constitutionally set up purposefully to provide certain services to humanity.

The Human Rights Activist stated this in an interview with our correspondent in Osogbo.

Comrade Adebisi who described the policies adopted by the current government in Osun as one of the best in the world, decrying situation where government is being turned to an enterprise in the case of some governments in the country.

Adebisi commended the government of Osun for living up to the responsibilities saddled with it, saying the time has come for the government at the centre to draw a template of good governance from the policies adopted by Osun State Governor.

The forefront activist who charged Nigerian Government to adopt some of the policies, programmes and administrative plans of Osun State Government, said the state has set a pace for any government in Nigeria to thrive.

Comrade Adebisi implored the Federal Government to implement without further delay all its electoral promises made to Nigerians especial the home grown public school feeding.

He stressed further, "with every sincerity, Osun has demonstrated high sense of commitment to good governance.

"I have been in the state for years and I knew what the successive government did in the past. But with all fairness, the present government under the watch of Governor Rauf Aregbesola has successfully proved his weight towards pro-masses polices.

"Based on this, I see no reason these well-grounded and articulated policies  shouldn't be duplicated by Nigerian Government especially Federal and State Governments.

Speaking on the fight against insurgency in the country, Comrade Adebisi said one of the realistic ways to combat the menace was for the Federal Government to equip the military with the required sophisticated ammunitions that would aid the fight.

He said Osun has demonstrated its commitment to security sector through the provision of modern equipment to the security agents in the state which according to him had facilitated the fight against all forms of criminality in every part of the state.

Comrade Adebisi buttressed that the avowed determination of the state towards the maintenance of peaceful cohabitation and tranquility had resorted to success recently recorded by men of Nigeria Police to foil an armed robbery operation in Ikirun, Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.

He said the provision of Armour Personnel Career, APC, by the state Governor to all the security operatives especially the police had gone a long way to fight the armed robbers that were almost escaped.

He therefore called on Federal Government to replicate the same gestures in its fight against insurgency.
