OKONJO-IWEALA WAS AN INTEGRITY CHALLENGED COORDINATING MINISTER - CDHR

Nigerians were greeted with awe of a letter from the former Finance Minister of the country, Dr. Okonjo-Iweala. It was meant to be a response to Mr. Falana (SAN)s petition to the International Criminal Court on the mind-bugling revelations of heist and unprecedented mismanagement of the country's finance, by ex-military Chiefs, under the direct supervision of the Former minister.
Reading the bewildering indecorous, undiplomatic and immature response of Dr. Okonjo-Iweala reminds of her antecedence of crass arrogance, emptiness and recklessness in and out of office. In a clime where institutions of accountability, Dr. Okonjo-Iweala should be answering to questions as to her reveling with the nations resources. As Finance and coordinating minister of the economic, it is inexplicable and the highest level of incompetence to be imagined, for all the corruption, diversion and direct theft, through the world bank, would be perpetrated with such level of monstrosity without the knowledge and complicity of a finance minister.
Dr. Okonjo-Iweala would want us believe she was tying her headgear while monumental fraud was foisted on the country. Though, those primarily accused in the petition were the service Chiefs, who have admitted lining their pockets with funds appropriated for purchasing weapons to fight insurgency, Dr. Okonjo Iweala resorted to invectives and abuses in a bid to divert public attention from main subject of the petition. This is a clear of the guilty that is afraid.
Under this circumstance, Dr. Okonjo-Iweala is better described and perceived as the Integrity Challenged Coordinating-minister, ICC. For the avoidance of doubt, the International Criminal Court's prosecution of the Rwandan genocide was not limited to military and government officers directly involved in the act. Nuns who aided and supplied information to the perpetrators of the act were also charged before the Court. Dr. Okonjo-Iweala has lots of explanations to do on the unprecedented looting of treasury under her custody. Her supervision of the economy saw the country plunged into foreign debts and depleted resources, without corresponding infrastructure. Several appropriations for road, railway, health etc were diverted into private pockets with Dr. Okonjo-Iweala as custodian of the economic and finance minister.
As a civil society organisation, we stand in solidarity with our leader, mentor and comrade in his quest for justice to victims of maladministration and corruption by Dr. Okonjo-Iweala and her ilk. We also commend Mr. Falana's matured, sophisticated, decorous, professional and diplomatic response to Dr. Okonji-Iweala's crude and uncouth attack on his personality. The bloods of those killed, maimed, orphaned and displaced as a result of the stealing, callousness, insensitive, wickedness and greed of those elected and appointed to serve them shall cry for and get justice.
