THINKING ALOUD By Waheed Saka

I am not always interested in blogging about Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, this is not because the President is not newsworthy but because he is always in the news for unworthy steps, from Fuel subsidy to Amaechi and NGF  to factionalisation of his Party, from Pardon of Alameyeseigha to harbouring profligates Oteh and Oduah, you can always see the unworthiness in every steps of the President of African most populous Nation.

Objective analyst of PDP convention will surely know that the convention was a beginning of an end of the self acclaimed biggest party in Africa. In other to make it look genuine, the Presidency bankroll a Post convention Dinner, first of its kind in more than a decade of PDP, and like an expensive bad mariage the aftermalt is still unravelling to the benefit of the opposition.

Then came the letter of the General, it was a letter that caught the pro and anti Jonathanian offguard, it was a letter from a badly maligned author, the messanger was disected before some people see the content of the message, the content of the letter became a moral contest among the gladiators, "you can call me a thief, yes I am, but you are the al-capone" such was what we reduced public discuss to.
I am beginning to wonder, what if the allegations is coming from a young activist like me? I know the voice of Jonathanian will drown the letter in 24hrs and perhaps the Presidency may apply Tonye strategy! Detention with high bail conditions. What if such letter is from IBB or Danjuma? It will be tagged coupist manifesto from the other two of coup triumvirate, what if Soyinka, Tunde Bakare or
Femi Aborishade? It will never be reckoned with or perhaps the presidency will tell them to go to court, or hell !

I am not a fan of Obasanjo, but no living Nigeria can write letter to the president which will generates such reactions from pro and anti alike, almost a month after the letter, the presidency was able to poohpooh on the allegations but never truly, sincerely and genuinely address the core issues raised by Gen. 007 .

The right and decision to contest 2015 election is solely belong to Dr Goodluck Jonathan, but his supporters and himself must realise that winning the coveted presidency is not their decision, despite controlling all the apparatus "we the people" still hold the longest part of the stick!
The decision to win will not rest on the rhetoric of no shoe, it will no longer be on the mantra of fresh air, it will not fly on the tsunami threat of expired warlords, it will depends on so many things that the presidency has taken for granted in the last three years, education, health, employment, power generation and visible economic growth.

I think the agbero tactics employed by the presidency will never add value to the hope of a second term, the president must neither be deceived by the noise of Asari tsunami or the Al-mustapha serpentine moves, or even the alliance of divided ethnic group that continue to live in the past glory of an era gone bye, the people will always rise above stupid call to war of an obese warlord.
The promise of a relatively stable of power supply by the middle of 2014 pledged by the president will be a barometer to measure the president sincerity of purpose towards the general election.
Despite obvious enourmous power of incumbency, no president can operate is own covert electioneering curricullum, even Abacha is realising that now 6ft underneath.
I wish Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan realise before it will be too late...
