DISQUALIFY OBIANO NOW, CDRP TELL INEC By Ola Maskot

A leading Human Rights group in Nigeria , the Committee for Democracy and Rights of the People (CDRP) has called on INEC to disqualify Mr Maduabuchi Willie Obaino , the gubernatorial candidate of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in the November 16th Anambra Gubernatorial election.
 
In a release signed by the Acting National Coordinator of the group, Comrade Saka Waheed, Mr Willie Obaino multiple registration is a criminal violation of Section 12(2) of the Electoral Act 2010 (As Amended) which states that: “A person shall not register in more than one registration centre or register more than once in the same registration centre ”.
For Mr Willie Obaino to registered in Lagos and Anambra States is a deliberate violation of our electoral Law which Section 12(3)  says the offender is liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding #100,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year or both.
 
Comrade Saka further emphasised that based on the violation of legal provisions, Mr Willie Obaino stand disqualified as a candidate and must also face prosecution o serve as deterrent to other and therefore deepen our democracy and electoral integrity.
According to Saka, As a stakeholder in our democracy, we will not allow any party to desecrate our electoral law with impunity, Willie Obiano multiple registration represent criminality, it represent impunity, it was a deliberate attempt to ridicule our electoral process and such must never allow to stand, we will not only insist on Willie Obiano disqualification and prosecution, we will also challenge INEC in law court for immediate prosecution of all electoral offenders, he submitted
