National Conference: There should be no go area- CDRP

The Advisory Committee on National Conference led by Senator Femi Okunronmu has been advised not to allow any no go area in midwifing people’s conversation for the proposed National Conference.

The advice was given by a leading human rights group in Nigeria, Committee for Democracy and Rights of the People (CDRP) in a press statement signed by the Acting National Coordinator of the group, Comrade Saka Waheed, the group said if the Advisory Committee intends to do a thorough job to midwife a people’s conference that will strengthen our understanding, expand the frontier of our inclusive and deepen our bond as one united nation, the committee must reject condition concerning issue to be discussed.
 
Comrade Saka Waheed said that the people’s doubt about the intention of President Jonathan is valid, given the on-going crisis in his party and Mr President unpopular silence on his intention to seek second term in office, ‘’but we must utilise every opportunity to discuss and find a lasting solution to the myriad of problems facing our country.
                                                                                               
According to Saka; It is a duty as a Nigerians not to allow politician to make their selfish and parochial interest subject them to perpetual pains and pangs, therefore this is the time for all Nigerians irrespective of their political, religion or ethnic leaning to dialogue and find a way forward out of nationality, political and economic woes facing the country.
 
He further added that, President Jonathan must show sincerity and political will by setting out modalities for the implementation of the outcome of the conference ab-initio, otherwise the report of the conference will go the way of the numerous white papers of series of committees set up by Government, He submitted
