President Jonathan Goodluck has been called upon to sack and probe aviation Minister Mrs Stella Oduah over controversy of ₦250 Million bullet proof car brought for her by the aviation Ministry.

A leading human right group in Nigeria, Committee for Defence of Democracy and Rights of the People (CDRP) said in a press statement signed by it Acting National Coordinator, Comrade Waheed Saka, that if President Jonathan indeed intends to put an end to the rot in aviation ministry and also show serious effort against institutional corruption, he must relief Stella Oduah of her job as Aviation Minister.

Comrade Saka said many plane crashes that have happened in the past were as a result of corruption perpetuated and encouraged by the officials of the ministry at the detriment of life of air – plane passengers. He said that it is unfortunate that the minister instead of calling the officials into order, she encouraged it by asking for ministry to buy her ₦250 million official car to satisfy her ministerial ego.

CDRP acting national coordinator further said presidency silence on the controversy ₦250 million car is unhealthy considering recent event happening in aviation industry. If the presidency wants Nigerians to believe that he is not in support of corruption in aviation ministry, Stella Oduah should be removed with immediate effect.

Comrade Saka however notes that the removal or sack of the minister does not necessary means the problems in aviation industry will be over. Hence he said all the directors in the ministry should as also probe to determine the level of their involvement in aviation mess and of those that found guilty should be consequently charged to the court.
