The Kano State Government has disclosed that about 120 individuals and organisations have been identified for compensation by the federal government with N944,827,040 in the state.
The state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, stated this yesterday, in a statement made available to journalists.
Ganduje  said the federal government released the list and money to be paid to individuals to the state government for disbursement to the victims in collaboration with its representatives.
The deputy governor also debunked the allegations that the state government had no hand in preparing the list of beneficiaries neither did it have the mandate to effect changes therein.
“The assets of the victims affected by the 2011 post-election violence were solely verified by the federal government through the Sheik Lemu committee, and federal government solely compiled the list of victims whom they deemed are entitled to receive compensation,” he said.
Ganduje said: “the role of the committee set up by the state government is to verify and ensure only those shortlisted by the federal government received compensation.”
He restated that each victim whose name appeared on the list was given two forms  to fill and attach recent passport photograph and the committee them compared the information on the forms including photograph with the one provided by the federal government.
Ganduje also advised residents, who may have enquiries or complaints on the issue to please channel them to the federal government for further necessary action, saying “where the information tallies, a clearance is given for the release of the amount against his name through e-payment."
