Osun People Commends Aregbesola for Prioritizing Security...As State Security Chiefs Pledge Adequate Protection of Lives, Property

The people of the State of Osun have lauded the current administration in the state for taking seriously the protection of lives and property of the citizenry.

The residents of the state gave the commendations followed the robbery attack at commercial banks in Ikirun, Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.

The people of Ikirun who reacted intermittently on the recent armed robbery operations in the town described Governor Aregbesola as a man of immeasurable passion for people's safety and welfare, saing the provision of security apparatus and other state-of-the-art facilities by Osun Government had contributed greatly to the peaceful co-existence of the people in the state.

They stressed that the procurement and distribution of Armour Personnel Carriers, APC and other security vehicles to all security agents across the state had boosted the outward intelligence manifestation and security surveillance in every nook and cranny of the state.

The people of the state who also saluted the prompt action of the State Government to ensure crime-free society, said the impact of Governor Aregbesola on security sector has been immensely felt by the residents.

They attributed the timely crossfire intervention of security agents who opened fire on the armed robbers during the robbery operations in Ikirun to what they regarded as "Aregbesola's security consciousness" which according to them had successfully brought a landmark achievement.

They said the use of Armour Personnel Carriers by the police to fight the robbers  greatly aided the security operatives to gun down four of the armed robbers and as well captured four of the armed robbery gang.

The residents of the town therefore applauded the State Government and the security agents for their inestimable courage and steadfastness towards the maintenance of laws and order coupled with adequate protection of lives and property.

It would be recalled that the entire town of Ikirun was on Friday threw into grief followed the armed robbery raid at Commercial Banks which led to the death of many people.

According to the eyewitnesses whose names withheld, the incident occurred sometimes 11:00am when the robbers were seen shooting sporadically into the air to scare the people away from the scene.

It was also reported that the armed robbers raided the First Bank, Skye Bank and Union Bank all located on the same street in Ikirun as they gained entry into those banks through the detonation of explosive devices.

However, the Armour Personnel Carriers procured by Governor Rauf Aregbesola was reportedly used by men of Nigeria Police to fight the armed robbers.

Speaking on the development, Osun State Command of Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Folashade Odoro confirmed the death of five members of the armed robbers, just as she confirmed

In the same vein, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kola Shodipo while parading the arrested suspected armed robbers in Osogbo, revealed that a sum of N7, 486,300 and other dangerous ammunitions were recovered from the suspected armed robbers.

Mr. Shodipo who commended Governor Rauf Aregbesola for his passion and commitment to security sector, said the Armour Personnel Carriers provided by the State Government to the police aided them to arrest the suspects.

He equally lauded his men for their courage, doggedness and gallantry to confront the robbery gang in spite the dangerous weapons in their hands, just as he urged the residents of the state to be security conscious and report any suspicious act in their domains.
